Current research interest:

In collaboration with James Bonaiuto and Dr. Sybille Gonzalez-monge, we investigate the body representation of children with developmental coordination disorder and neurotypical children using sensory and motor tasks.

In collaboration with Pier Francesco Ferrari, Marco Bimbi, Irene Cristofori, Lynn Murray, and Peter Cooper, we investigate the impact of book-sharing practices in low SES French schools and the neural mechanisms underlying its effect.

In collaboration with Lyon academy and Pr Sirigu, we investigate the impact of new technology under patent in improving reading for young children and dyslexic adults.

In collaboration with Céline Souchay, we aim to investigate the metacognitive process in children with DCD using motor and non-motor tasks.

General research interest:

I am developing research in cognitive neuroscience in order to understand the neurocognitive mechanisms of motor coordination disorders. I extend this research theme around the contribution of cognitive sciences to inclusive education with the help of scientifically founded practices in the cognitive domain (spatial, mathematical, or social cognition).

In general, I am interested in using cognitive neuroscience methods to increase our knowledge of cognitive and motor learning, in particular, to further our understanding of how learning can be altered through neurodevelopmental disorders (Developmental Coordination Disorder, developmental amnesia, Williams-beuren syndrome).

Past research interest:

In collaboration with Dr. Sybille Gonzalez-monge, Pr Sirigu, we investigated the neural bases of motor awareness in healthy children and children with Developmental Coordination Disorder. We showed that children with DCD show a larger variability in their awareness response due to the setting of a motor awareness threshold too high given their motor ability. We suggest that this dysfunctional threshold prevents them from benefitting from conscious motor learning.

In collaboration with Pr Demily and Pr Sirigu, we investigated the social behaviors of children with Williams-Beuren syndrome using Eyetracking and EEG methodology. We showed that a dissociation between their ability to select a trustworthy face from their inability to spontaneously discriminate trustworthy from untrustworthy faces.

During my post-doc, we (with Dr. Huron, Unicog, Saclay) focused on children with developmental motor coordination who exhibit deficits in visuospatial, motor, and mathematical abilities. We investigated the mechanisms underlying their mathematical impairment and focused on its underlying cerebral substrate using imaging methods. These researches have clinical and educational implications.

 

During my Ph.D., we (with Dr. Rousset and Pr Baciu, LPNC, Grenoble) investigated how spatial processes can interact with our episodic memory, in patients with amnesia, using fMRI and behavioral techniques.
